Minoli De Silva, one of the most formidable contenders from the Fans team of MasterChef Australia: Fans Vs Favourites, was on Tuesday eliminated after she failed to replicate the exquisite dish – Summer Cucumbers with Murray Cod by legendary guest Alla Wolf-Tasker. Set in the picturesque town of Daylesford, the pressure test was based on Alla Wolf-Tasker’s masterclass at Lake House. 

However, Minoli admitted that the pressure of memorizing the dish, its elements and the process got to her almost immediately. “I hadn’t organised my priorities properly in the Pressure Test, which showed when I ran out of time,” Minoli said.  

Admitting that she was not proud of the dish served, Minoli said, “I was mortified that I had to serve Alla Wolf-Tasker my dish.” “It was just a mess at the end and my heart was broken that I was serving one of my favourite chefs’ food that I wasn’t happy with – especially her food,” she added. 

Minoli created some of the most stunning yet simple delicacies inspired by native Sri Lanka in her short stint at the MasterChef Kitchen. Get your taste buds tingling and try out some of her dishes listed below: 

Pork curry with chana Dhal, pineapple salsa and rice

This multi-dish recipe is no easy feat, but it is bursting with so many different spices and flavours that you’ll be so happy you gave it a go. Pork belly slow-cooked in pork sauce with simple steamed rice and channa dal is a staple you would wish to have every day. The dish was topped with sweet and chilli pineapple adding the perfect flavour to the spicy main dish. 

Lankan egg pan rolls with spicy tomato chutney

Just the perfect dish for a rainy evening, these delicate crepes are filled with a pan roll mixture, then deep-fried and served with tangy tomato chutney. 

Curry Leaves Curd Kingfish

This divine looking dish is a super simple recipe.Produced spectacularly in a charming green curry leaves oil, the Kingfish is served with a mix of crispy curry leaves, and coconut cream sauce with cumin dust splashed on top of the dish.

A humble yet spectacular snack dish, chicken and potato curry jaffle with spicy salsa is something one can cook anytime with basic ingredients. It’s a flavourful filling snack with spice and tangy tingling in your mouth.
