Suneel Darshan’s Ek Rishta – The Bond Of Love, first film with Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar completes 21 years!
When Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar came together on the film screen with the film ‘Ek Rishta’ in the year 2001, it was the first film with both that had done wonders at the box office and Bollywood got a father son jodi. Recently the film Ek Rishta – The Bond of Love completed 21 years which is a big achievement in itself.
Director Sunil Darshan reminiscing about Bachchan and Akshay, said, “Some memories fade with time, but a relationship… is indeed an experience that brings back nostalgia, because from this film I discovered a relationship that I felt deeply and the joy of being cast with Mr. Bachchan fueled my excitement. I am and always will be indebted to the audience for their continued appreciation for the film”.
Presented by Shri Krishna International, the film was seen for 100 days in the cinema halls of Mumbai and in different cities of India, the film kept its hold on the theaters as well as in the hearts of the audience. A complete and emotional family story had carved a niche for itself in the international market as well. And even today when these films come on TV, the family sit together and watch this passionate relationship of father-son.

After working with Akshay in Jaanwar (1999), the writer, director and producer had pitted Akshay for the first time against the veteran. The film also starred Karisma Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Rakhee in pivotal roles, and its popular soundtrack was composed by Nadeem-Shravan.
