What is your Definition of success?

Success is a roadmap to achieving my goals. Goals and desires are indefinite. There is no one thing that we want to achieve. Here the roadmap is not created by us, it is the unpredictable situations that we come across while achieving our goals. Every time you want to achieve something you have to follow the roadmap. Examples of to roadmap are negative people who will act as an obstacle to reaching your goal, people who will prove you wrong, your family members, peers, colleagues, and friends who will not trust you and will let you down, people who will throw stones at you in any form, your work will be questioned etc. Every time you are closer to your goal, you will feel like giving up changing your mind, and sacrificing. In the end, it is you who has to decide how you will tackle the situation, how you overcome challenges, by not giving up, by being positive throughout the cycle, by sacrificing things that you love, what you have learnt, after every no there is a yes, you can do attitude that you can do it, learning from the downfalls your hard work, dedication, honesty, believe in yourself, how you have faced criticism and the way you have responded. This is what I am talking about. It will not be easy but you will get it. Every time you want to achieve that one thing, you need to remember how you dealt with difficult situations to achieve your previous goals which has made you more stronger now and the positive attitude that you have done it before, you can do it now too.

What role has failure played in your journey to success?

It has played an important role in life. Trust me if I hadn’t failed in certain circumstances I wouldn’t have realised the importance of it. Failure is like breathing. To survive, breathing is important, similarly, to achieve your goal, failure is important. There are 2 types of failure you can follow. One is ignoring failure which is like a death and the second one is learning from failure. I strongly believe in the second type of failure as a person I have grown personally and professionally. I have become stronger in dealing with these situations and have learnt to remain positive throughout the process of achieving the goal. I would like to share an example. I once went for an interview bf or the trainer post with one of the top MNCs. I have worked with that company earlier for 6 and a half years. However, this time I was rejected. I did not give up. I was following up with the company and they called me for an interview again post 1 month and this time fortunately I was selected. However, my colleagues and my manager were not so sure about me and hence proper communication was a challenge and I was not assigned any extra tasks or work on additional projects. However, it was a difficult time for me as it hit my self-respect and I did not get a good feeling about coming to work however that did not impact my performance and I took the initiative and worked on the process which was not performing and it was way below client’s expectations, however, it worked in my way. My hard work and dedication gave positive results. The process performance increased by 7% in the first month, I got the best trainer award in the 3rd month from joining and appreciation emails from my clients, process head, operation manager and my manager. In this situation, I focused on what I could do rather than on people who did not want to work with me. So, it is you who have to decide what type of failure you want to choose and it’s only you who can do it, not the others who will help you to grow. In a nutshell, failure is a teacher and it helps you to grow, become strong, handle difficult situations with ease, and dare to make the right decisions. It helps you to become a good leader who is setting up a right example for others

How did you overcome challenges and obstacles along the way?

I choose to learn, work hard towards the situation, accept criticism by not ignoring but how to change the situation in the right favour, find the solution rather than giving up

What are your thoughts on work/ life balance?

Maintaining a work life balance is very important and most of the times it becomes difficult for girls to maintain that work life balance. 99% of the women are career oriented and they have to sacrifice on so many things. Our family is important too, in the process of achieving goals we tend to ignore our family. Family is extremely important. We should talk to our mentors and managers if we are unable to balance time and work on the time management to create work life balance

What advice would you give to start journey of success?

The first and important point is to be open to learning. Every time you will come across situations where you feel you can’t do it, you will be let down, your hard work dedication will be questioned, your family, peers friends will be against you, will not have trust in you. You are the one who will decide for yourself and prove you can do it. You have to be go getter and stand for yourself. Don’t focus on negative situations, don’t be scared and don’t get threat thought in you that this is what you can’t do, learn from the failures and remember and implement on the similar situations you come across every time. Yes, I can do it. Indra Gandhi was managing the country and ger family. She was the first Lady prime minister and imagine how much she has to go through to achieve that thing which she totally deserved. Everyone must have criticised her that only men can do it and not women. But she focused on herself and believed in herself.
